Meet Shelly

The maker behind Her Keepsake Garden — and the slow, hopeful story behind every keepsake.

Painterly portrait of Shelly, a kind-eyed older woman with silver hair, holding a vintage teacup in her sunny garden.

Shelly is the maker behind Her Keepsake Garden. She lives in Redding, in Northern California, where the summers are long, the light is generous, and the soil is good for both wildflowers and quiet thinking.

For as long as she can remember, Shelly has been a collector of porcelain and china — teacups missing a saucer, plates with faded roses, sugar bowls that lost their lids decades ago. She finds them at yard sales, thrift stores, and estate sales, where most people pass them by. To her, each piece is a small story waiting for a second chapter.

The garden side of the story came from her own grandmother — long afternoons in a sunlit yard, the clink of teacups, hands in warm soil, climbing roses on the fence. Her Keepsake Garden is what happens when those two slow loves finally meet, and a chipped teacup becomes a lantern, or a stack of teapots becomes a tower for the moss to grow on.

Shelly lives with Multiple Sclerosis, and this studio is built around her energy. There are good days and harder days, and the pace honors both. Her daughter Brittney and granddaughter Trinity help with the parts of the business that need them, so Shelly can spend her best hours doing what she loves most — finding, imagining, and making.

Thank you for being here at the beginning. The first creations are still taking shape, but the garden is patient, and so are we.

Family, friends, and helpers

A small studio with a lot of love

Her Keepsake Garden is a family effort — and a community one. Shelly's nurse and her best friend lend a hand now and then, and everyone moves at the garden's pace. If you'd like to be part of it, you can send Shelly a note.
